Houston, TX – Judging for the Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) All State Choir was recently held in Houston and Fort Worth. St. Agnes Academy Mixed Chorus members who were chosen for the TPSMEA All State Choir include sopranos Maddy Delgado, Andrea Miranda, Erin Miller and Han Nguyen and altos Madeline Garvis and Shannon Lewis. Fourteen men from Strake Jesuit were also chosen. These students will represent St. Agnes Academy when they attend the TPSMEA All State clinic and concert, to be held from January 30 to February 1 in San Marcos.
“Once again, the St. Agnes/ Strake Jesuit Mixed Chorus had more students qualify for TPSMEA All State than any other private school in the state of Texas!” said Music Director Art Buckley. “This is a great tribute to all of our voice teachers, and especially to our super talented and dedicated student singers.”
TPSMEA is a state-wide organization which promotes music education and competition. The All State winners were initially screened through a jury performance at the high school level. Those nominated after juries recorded a CD of their performance. The CD's were anonymously judged at the regional competition hosted by St. Agnes Academy. Students chosen from the regional judging competed recently, via CD, at the state level, in Houston and Fort Worth. The All State judging that took place in Houston was also hosted by St. Agnes Academy.
